About FMGE

The FMGE exam is conducted twice a year, one is in the month of June and the second is in the month of December. That means foreign medical graduates can attempt this exam 2 times a year.
It is conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBA) every year at the national level and it was earlier known as the MCI exam or MCI screening test. One important fact about this exam is that it is not an entrance test to get admission in any course, it’s just a qualifying exam to get a medical licence. It has no negative marketing and no number of attempts.

Eligibility criteria for FMGE 2022
- The candidate must have Indian citizenship or overseas citizenship of India (OCI)
- The candidate should have primary medical education recognised by the Indian Embassy and the college from where he/she has done graduation should follow the NMC guideline.
- The candidates must submit proof of their primary medical qualification. If someone fails to submit the proof, his/her candidature will be cancelled.
- The result of the primary medical education should have been declared on or before the application date of the FMGE Exam.
- Candidates who have done their MBBS from the following countries New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK are automatically eligible to practice in India. They do not have to qualify for the FMGE exam.
Steps to fill the FMGE exam application form
Medical graduates need to fill out the examination form online following these steps provided below:
- Register and fill the details to generate User ID/Application ID and password.
- The candidate will get the user ID and passwords on the registered email ID
- Complete the application form and upload your scanned photograph, signature, thumb impression and other required documents
- Select your city preference of the exam
- Now pay the fee and submit your application
- Take a print out of your application form containing transaction ID for your record.
FMGE exam selection procedure
As mentioned in the above section FMGE is a licensing examination which means it doesn’t have any relation to admission in any institute. The candidate needs to attain 50% marks in the exam which means 150 marks out of 300. It has no negative marking and the syllabus covers all the subjects studied in the MBBS course.
FMGE 2022 Admit Card
The candidate who completes the application process successfully in the given timeframe can download the admit card after its release date. This document is crucially important to appear in the examination. The candidate details in the admit card should be the same as their other Id proofs, if any detail is mismatched the candidate won’t be allowed to appear in the exam. - How many times do candidates appear in the FMGE exam?
There is no limit to the number of attempts. Hence a candidate can appear in the exam multiple times.
- Is there any provision for re-evaluation of the scores?
There is no provision for re-evaluation of the scores in case of a failed result. The declared result will be considered final.
- Can any other person collect the FMGE pass certificate?
No, as per the rule only the person who has appeared in the examination can collect the FMGE pass certificate from the head office.
- What is the withheld result?
A candidate will be kept on the withheld list by NBE in case of not having sufficient documents. The result of these candidates will be declared later when all the document requirements are fulfilled.
